Sharing an Agent

Once an agent is configured, you share it with end users so they can start chatting with it.

What sharing gives you

The Share your ESP Private Agent dialog gives you two ways to hand off the agent:

  • A QR code — scan with a phone camera to open the agent directly.
  • A Copy link button — copies the share URL to your clipboard.

The share URL takes the form:

<your-user-dashboard-url>/agents/<agent_id>

The URL and QR code are stable — they do not change when you edit the agent.

Opening the Share dialog

There are two ways to open it from the Your AI Agents page:

  1. Click the Share button on the agent's card (always visible).
  2. Click View more dropdown → Share (same dialog).

What's in the dialog

The dialog title reads: "Share your ESP Private Agent", followed by the agent's name.

ElementWhat it does
QR codeScan with a phone camera to open the agent in the User Dashboard.
Start chatting buttonOpens the agent in the User Dashboard in a new browser tab. Use this to test the agent yourself before sharing with others.
Copy link buttonCopies the share URL to your clipboard.
备注

The dialog shows only a Copy link button — there is no separate URL text field visible on desktop.

Knowledge Base warning

If the agent has a Knowledge Base that hasn't finished ingesting, the dialog shows:

Knowledge base(s) not yet configured.
The agent will not retrieve data from the knowledge base until successfully configured. Check the status of the knowledge base from the tool configuration page.

The agent is still shareable — but it won't answer from the KB until the status reaches Configured. Best practice is to wait for ingestion to complete before sharing broadly.

Testing before you share

Click Start chatting in the dialog. The User Dashboard opens in a new tab and you can use the agent as an end user would.

Check:

  • The agent's tone and behaviour match the system prompt.
  • Tools are called as expected.
  • KB-backed answers cite the right material.
备注

For Start chatting to work, your admin account must also have end-user access. In some deployments, admin and end-user accounts are managed separately. If the chat doesn't open, confirm your account has end-user access.

Who can chat

Opening the link does not automatically grant access. An end user needs:

  1. An end-user account on your deployment.
  2. Access to the agent (per your deployment's authorization model).
  3. The share URL.

If they have all three, opening the link drops them directly into a chat with the agent.

Mobile and device handoff

The QR code is the easiest way to hand an agent to a device or phone:

  • Phone users open the camera app, point at the QR code, and follow the link.
  • For ESP devices with RainMaker Home app support, scanning the QR code can also assign the agent to the device. See the Mobile App section for device assignment details.

Troubleshooting

SymptomLikely cause
End user sees "agent not found"Agent was deleted, or the URL is wrong. Re-share from the dialog.
End user can't sign inThey don't have an end-user account. Have your platform admin create one.
Agent doesn't answer from the KBKB isn't Configured yet. Watch the status in the editor; retry once it flips to Configured.
QR scan opens the wrong pageCamera apps sometimes intercept links. Use the camera's "Open in browser" option or paste the link directly.

Tips

  • Test before you broadcast. A 30-second self-test via Start chatting catches most issues.
  • The link is stable. There's no need to re-share after editing the agent — the URL doesn't rotate.
  • Wait on the KB if it matters. If your agent's value depends on the KB, hold the share until the status is Configured.
  • Keep a record of agent URLs. If you manage multiple agents for different audiences, maintain a simple doc with the agent names and their URLs.
