Connectors

A connector is your authorization for an agent to use an external tool or service on your behalf.

In this dashboard, connectors are shown as MCP server endpoints, such as https://mcp.example.com/api/mcp. One endpoint can expose one or more tools to an agent.

You usually do not need to set up connectors before chatting. Connectors are added when you start a session that requires them, and the dashboard prompts you when authorization is needed.

Where to find connectors

Open the ☰ drawer and select Connectors. The drawer also includes navigation items such as Home, Profile, Personalization, and Usage & Quota.

The Connectors page is for managing connector authorizations that already exist for your account.

What the Connectors page shows

For each connector, the page shows:

  • The MCP server URL for the connector.
  • A status, such as Active - Connected.
  • A Disconnect button for active connectors.
  • A Refresh button at the top of the page to reload the list.

If your account has no connectors yet, this page may be empty. Start or continue a chat with an agent that needs external tools; the dashboard will prompt you when a connector is required.

Connect from chat

Most connector prompts appear inside an agent chat.

Click the Agent tools button, shown as a wrench icon next to the chat input. This opens the Tools modal for the current agent.

The Tools modal shows the connectors and tools available to that agent. A connector row can include:

  • The connector URL or name.
  • Status badges such as Remote and OAuth.
  • A green Connected ↗ button when the connector is already authorized.
  • A Connect or Reconnect button when authorization is needed.
  • A chevron to expand the row and view enabled tools.

The Remote badge means the tool runs on a remote server. The OAuth badge means the connector uses OAuth authorization.

When a connector is already active, Connected ↗ confirms that it is ready to use. The external-link icon opens the connector management page instead of starting a new OAuth flow.

If a required connector is missing, the chat may show a Missing Connectors banner above the input. Open Agent tools from that banner or from the wrench icon to connect.

OAuth and API key connectors

For an OAuth connector:

  1. Click Connect in the Tools modal.
  2. Complete the provider's authorization screen.
  3. Return to the dashboard.
  4. Wait while the dashboard completes the OAuth flow.
  5. Continue the chat after the connector is active.

Some connectors use an API key instead of OAuth. For those connectors, the Tools modal opens a dialog where you paste the key. The key is stored securely with your connector credentials.

Reconnect an expired connector

OAuth tokens can expire. When that happens, tools that depend on the connector stop working until you reconnect.

You may see:

  • A disconnected or expired status on the connector.
  • A Reconnect button in the Tools modal.
  • A Remove option for an expired connector on the Connectors page.

Click Reconnect and complete the authorization flow again. Reconnecting restores access for tools that use that connector.

Disconnect a connector

Use Disconnect on the Connectors page when you no longer want agents to use that connector.

Disconnecting removes the stored authorization. Agents that depend on the connector cannot use its tools until you connect again.

Connector endpoints and tools

A connector is tied to an MCP server endpoint. That endpoint may expose multiple enabled tools to an agent.

For example, one endpoint might expose tools for checking status, reading details, or updating settings. Expand a connector row in the Tools modal to see the enabled tools available to the current agent.

The exact connectors and tools depend on what your platform admins have configured.

What's stored, what's safe

  • OAuth tokens and API keys are stored encrypted at rest.
  • OAuth does not send your service password to the platform.
  • Connectors are used so agents can act on your behalf through the tools they are configured to use.
  • You can disconnect a connector at any time from the Connectors page.

Tips

  • Connect only when prompted. You do not need to authorize connectors before an agent asks for one.
  • Use Agent tools to inspect capabilities. The Tools modal shows which connectors and enabled tools the current agent can use.
  • Reconnect promptly. If a connector expires, dependent tools will fail until authorization is refreshed.
  • Disconnect when finished. Remove access for connectors you no longer need.
